Officer positions and descriptions

NOTE: These descriptions may be inaccurate and outdated due to constant changes and needs of the post.

House:

  • President – The duties of the President is to call the meeting to order. The President must supervise all activities and functions of the post. The President has authority over membership and lower ranking officers. The president also informs members of post events.
  • Vice president – In the absence of the president, the Vice President shall assume the President’s duties. The Vice President shall also be responsible for completing a checklist of gear for all visiting trucks. This checklist must be completed before any members utilizing a visiting truck or its equipment during a drill.
  • Secretary – The duty of the secretary is to keep a complete record of the Explorer Post proceedings, keep an up to date roster of members, and to call roll at all meetings and activities, The secretary shall notify members of any and all activities of the post. He or she shall furnish the Fire Coordinator with a list of all members and officers each February. In the absence of His or Her superior, the Secretary shall assume that officer’s position. The Secretary has to send a letter to each Fire Company thanking them for their participation in a drill.
  • Assistant Secretary – The Assistant Secretary, if needed, is appointed. He or she will help the Secretary.
  • Quartermaster – The Quartermaster is to furnish new members with a set of bunker gear and fill out a gear sheet. The Quartermaster must keep an up to date inventory of all equipment and inspect every item periodically for damage. He or She is responsible for supplying members with Post uniforms and work-wear.

Line:

  • Captain – The duty of the captain is to have full control of membership at all times during activities pertaining to the post and also get the trucks for the activities.
  • First Lieutenant – The duty of the First Lieutenant is to govern with the Captain and Second Lieutenant at all activities pertaining to the post. In the absence of the Captain the First Lieutenant shall assume the Captain’s duties.
  • Second Lieutenant – The duty of the Second Lieutenant is to govern with the Captain and the First Lieutenant at all activities pertaining to the Post. In the absence of His or Her superiors, the Second Lieutenant shall assume that officers duties.
