about us.
The Rockland County Fire Explorer Post 44 is an Adult Advisor supervised organization for teens and young adults between the ages of 14 and 21 interested in the Fire service. It simulates situations that are experienced in the fire service as well as training for said situations. Our drills consist of various training scenarios ranging from first aid (certified class) to structure fires. While the Fire Explorer program does not train Explorers to a level of firefighting certification (such as FireFighter 1) it does however provide the skills necessary for introduction to FireFighter 1. This is why many of the Rockland County Fire Departments use our program to prepare their new probationary members for The New York State Firefighter 1 course. We uphold the core Exploring values which are to “Deliver character-building experiences and mentorship that allow youth to achieve their full potential in both life and work.”.
